About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 has issued a Special Notice (36C24826Q0078) for the procurement of a Sonosite ultrasound system for the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. This name-brand-only solicitation was posted on November 4, 2025, with a response deadline of November 12, 2025, at 9:00 AM Eastern Time. The procurement falls under NAICS Code 339112 (Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing) and PSC Code 6525 (Imaging Equipment and Supplies: Medical, Dental, Veterinary). The primary contracting officer for this opportunity is Marcus Lewis. This solicitation represents the VA's effort to enhance medical service delivery to veterans by acquiring dedicated ultrasound equipment for the Tampa facility.

The primary purpose of this procurement is to provide the VA IV Infusion Clinic with a dedicated Sonosite ultrasound machine to assist clinical staff with intravenous insertions, particularly for patients with difficult venous access. Previously, the clinic borrowed the ultrasound unit from the Emergency Room Department as needed, which created scheduling conflicts and inefficiencies in patient care. By acquiring a dedicated device, the VA aims to eliminate these conflicts and enable veterans to receive ultrasound services at the main hospital rather than being transferred to other clinics. Vendors interested in responding to this solicitation must be prepared to supply a Sonosite ultrasound machine meeting specific physical, functional, and performance characteristics as defined in the technical requirements. As this is a name-brand-only requirement, only authorized vendors capable of providing authentic Sonosite equipment are eligible to participate in this procurement opportunity.
