About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 is conducting market research to identify qualified sources capable of providing an Aquablation Robotic System, specifically the PROCEPT AquaBean Robotic System, for Bay Pines VAMC in Florida. This sophisticated medical device is designed for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) using high-velocity waterjet technology for non-thermal tissue removal, with advanced robotic assistance and real-time ultrasound imaging capabilities. Interested contractors must submit comprehensive information including company details, capabilities statements, manufacturing location, authorized distributorship letters if applicable, and informal cost estimates. The evaluation process will assess whether respondents can provide all required components including the AquaBeam system, sterilization equipment, scopes, tray holders, Apogee Ultrasound Set, and a one-year AquaCare service period. Responses must be submitted to Contracting Officer Lakiesha Anderson at Lakiesha.Anderson@va.gov by 12:00 PM EST on June 24, 2025, with no submissions accepted after this deadline.

Currently, no set-aside designation is in place, though the VA reserves the right to set aside the acquisition for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses or Veteran-Owned Small Businesses if two or more responses meeting the Non-manufacturer Rule are received by the deadline. The notice does not identify any incumbent contractors or specify contract values, as this is purely a market research exercise under the Sources Sought process. The procurement is structured as a firm fixed-price arrangement and falls under NAICS code 339112 for Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing. The system being procured is FDA-cleared and CE-marked, indicating compliance with both U.S. and European health standards, and is currently used in healthcare institutions worldwide. This market research phase will inform the VA's determination of the appropriate acquisition method, though the government maintains no obligation to issue a solicitation or award a contract based on the responses received.
