About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA) is seeking a contractor to replace chilled water pumps and condensate pumps at the Salisbury VAMC's Building 11. The project involves comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) work in two pump rooms (G18 and G10), including removing unused materials, wall preparation and painting, and floor refinishing with epoxy coating. Contractors must be capable of providing temporary services during pump replacement while ensuring no disruption to the 24/7 operational building. The pre-solicitation notice requires interested contractors to email Sean Cosby at sean.cosby@va.gov to demonstrate their capabilities and interest by March 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM ET. The formal presolicitation is expected to be posted around the same date, with the project located at 1601 Brenner Ave, Salisbury, NC 28144.

The contract opportunity falls under the NAICS category 236220 for Commercial and Institutional Building Construction and PSC category Y1JZ for Construction of Miscellaneous Buildings. There are currently no set-aside designations for this procurement, indicating it is open to all qualified contractors. The notice explicitly states that no award will be made directly from this pre-solicitation document, suggesting a competitive bidding process will follow. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed, the comprehensive nature of the work—including pump replacement, room renovation, and installation of a sump well—indicates a substantial project scope. The VA's requirement for uninterrupted building operations during the project suggests a need for highly experienced and adaptable contractors with specialized mechanical and construction capabilities.
