About this opportunity
The 48th Civil Engineering Squadron Fire & Emergency Services, United States Air Force, seeks procurement of five handheld multi-gas detectors with integrated Photoionization Detectors, three automated calibration docking stations, and associated charging and gas hardware, with quotes due September 25, 2026 at 1500 BST and questions due September 21, 2026 at 1400 BST. No small business set-aside applies per FAR 19.000(b)(1)(ii) due to the overseas location.
Place of performance is Brandon IP27, UK (RAF Lakenheath). The baseline equipment specified is the MSA Altair 5X PID or equal. Handheld units must detect five target hazards simultaneously: Volatile Organic Compounds (0–2000 PPM with 10.6 eV lamp), Combustible Gases/LEL (0–100% LEL), Oxygen (0–30% Vol.), Carbon Monoxide (0–1,999 PPM), and Hydrogen Sulfide (0–200 PPM). Units must feature high-resolution full-color graphic displays readable in direct sunlight and dark environments with rapid sensor response times. Equipment must be certified Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, and D for hazardous locations by UL or FM, comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 and NFPA standards, and maintain minimum IP65 ingress protection. The automated calibration infrastructure must include a 4-valve Galaxy GX2 docking station or equal capable of automated bump testing and calibration, a smart electronic cylinder holder with Integrated Demand Flow Regulator reading RFID-chipped calibration gas cylinders, nitrogen-balanced calibration gas compatibility, and multi-unit charging cradles configured with UK Type G plug configurations.
Offerors must provide CAGE Code or active SAM registration, submit technical documentation not exceeding 20 pages, and hold quoted prices firm for 60 calendar days from receipt. Delivery is required within 60 calendar days from award date. Award will be made on best value combining price and technical capability. Amendment 0002, effective September 23, 2026, incorporates Q&A clarifying that offerors must include Isobutylene calibration gas in quotations to ensure full system functionality. Offerors must acknowledge receipt of Amendment 0002 prior to the solicitation deadline.
