About this file
The document is a Questions and Answers (Q1) file related to a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Shingle Roof Replacement project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Riley, Kansas. The Q&A clarifies that the project involves installing Tesla Solar Singles on a 1,476 sq ft roof deck of Building 265, a single-story historic facility built in 1904. Specifically, the project aims to replace existing asphalt shingles with PV shingles to demonstrate the efficiency, reliability, and resilience of advanced solar technology.
The solicitation (W9132T25RA001) requires contractors to provide detailed information demonstrating their capability to install Tesla-branded solar shingles, including relevant past performance and installation certifications. Interested vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and submit their responses via email to CERL-CT-Quotes@usace.army.mil. Notably, the project specification indicates that excess power generated will be returned to the installation's grid, and no backup battery system is required.

Questions and Answers Q1. For this unit (1,476 sq ft ) filed area of roof deck, you want PV/Tesla Solar Singles not Asphalt Roof Shingles as what it currently has? If so, how many backup batteries would you like figured in as well?
A1. The project is to install and demonstrate PV/Tesla Solar Singles. In the SOW, it states we do not want battery backup. All excess power goes back to the installation’s grid.
