SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been modified:

RFI'S

RFI’S # 1 Amendment 0001

1. Question: Sheets M-502 and M-503 call out the new guide roller material (Piece #s 180 & 199) as F.S. Informational drawing Sheet M-4 lists these parts as C.S. Spec section 05 50 10 2.2 calls for forged alloy steel.

Please confirm if the new guide rollers are to be forged steel or carbon steel.

Response: Follow guidance of Sheets M-502, M-503, and Spec Section 05 50 10 2.2 which calls for forged alloy steel to be used for the guide rollers. Steel used for the guide rollers is to meet all requirements of Spec Section 05 50 10.

RFI’s # 2 Amendment 0002

1. Drawing M-103, guide roller adjustment notes 4 states that guide roller assessments & adjustments must be a minimum of 60 days apart. Does this mean that we are to measure & adjust all 12 rollers, wait 60 days, and then measure again & adjust as needed?

Government Response: Correct.

2. Has the railroad been notified that during the time while the span lock motors are being replaced, the bridge will be out of service for RR traffic? Is there a time duration limit for this activity?

Government Response: The government is aware that the span lock motors replacement effort will disrupt railroad traffic. See specification changes below regarding the time duration limit & coordination requirements for that work.

SPECIFICATION CHANGES

3. Section 01 11 00 “SUMMARY OF WORK”, Subpart 1.1 “WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS”, insert the following after the 2nd sentence of the 3rd paragraph:

4. Section 01 11 00 “SUMMARY OF WORK”, Subpart 1.8.1 “Hours of Operation”, remove the following sentence (the last sentence in the last paragraph) in its entirety:

“Approval will not be given to perform work on the bridge from 01 May through 31 December, inclusive of any year.”

W912WJ22B0008

5. Section 01 11 00 “SUMMARY OF WORK”, Subpart 1.8.1 “Hours of Operation”, add the following sentence to the end of the last paragraph:

“Approval will not be given to perform work on the bridge, except for work that takes place in the bridge spires, from 01 May through 15 October, inclusive of any year.”

6. Section 01 11 00 “SUMMARY OF WORK”, Subpart 1.9 “CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONAL RESTRICTIONS”, add the following to the end of paragraph “b”:

“The work involving the span lock motor replacement shall be performed with the bridge in the up position except for testing of the new motors. The span lock motors shall be replaced expeditiously to minimize the duration that the bridge is out of service for train use and shall not exceed a 48-hour period for each motor. The Contractor shall submit a written request to the Contracting Officer for approval 14 days prior to taking the bridge out of service for train use. The motor replacement work shall only occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays from 01 December through 01 May, inclusive of any year.”
