SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION 00100 - BIDDING SCHEDULE/INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS

The following have been added by full text:

AMENDMENT 0003 RFI'S

1. Inference to question 8 will the hydro unit completely shut off the flow of water to Gate 3 to allow servicing the gate?

Response: When hydro units are shut, all flow is stopped except for leakage that may occur along the gate seals. As stated in Specification Section 01 11 00 Part 1.3 “There is some leakage through the hydro-electric gate upstream of gate #3. The Contractor shall be responsible for managing all water resulting from the hydro-electric gate leakage.”

2. In reference Specification Section 01 11 00 Part 1.1 Paragraph 6 Will the overhead hoist reach each gate for disassembly/reassembly or will there need to be an additional hoisting systems to remove the gates from their current locations in addition to the in house crane?

Response: The overhead hoist does not reach directly above the gates. Local hoisting systems will be required to move gates from the gate pocked to the overhead hoist.

3. I have a question based on a previous RFI below. Please clarify if you could please.

Q) The specs indicate the stop logs are "Composite Plastic Timbers". Can the government expand on the specification requirement of the stop log material type? A previous RFI has requested Fiberglass material and that was denied. Can the government accept engineered composite fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP)?

4. Contractors Comment "FRP is a well-known structural composite material solution. If you go through the product material specs they are essentially what you would find in a composite timber decking product (although higher material strengths). Many composite timber solutions include fiberglass as a material component."

Response: The answer to the previous RFI was not intended to prevent the utilization of composite timbers that include fiberglass reinforcing or other fiber reinforced polymers. Such timbers are acceptable.
