AMENDMENT U0006
RESPONSES TO RFI 04
1. Question: Division 26 of the specifications, section 260519 page 3 line item 3.2 G states “ branch circuits concealed in ceilings, walls and partitions: Type thhn-thwn, single conductors in raceway.
The interpretation of this statement indicates I need to furnish and install an EMT raceway with individual conductors from device to device. However, in line it H it states, “Branch circuits installed below raised flooring: Type thhn-thwn, single conductors in raceway. Metal-clad cable, Type MC shall only be used where indicated. Our question is where is type MC cable acceptable for this project? Is the engineer only stating that MC cable can be used under raised floors? Can this MC cable wiring method be used elsewhere such as concealed above ceilings, partitions and walls? The use of MC cable is a very acceptable and practical wiring method approved by the National Electrical
Code. Its use is a great labor and material savings to any installation. The use of EMT vs. MC cable would reduce the overall cost to the electrical portion of this project. We would like to ask if the
Electrical Engineer and Owner will consider this wiring method throughout the entire facility and not just where indicated.
Response 1: Provide MC cable as indicated; as whips to electrical devices mounted in the raised flooring.
2. Question: Section 3.4.3.3 states that, “If the Offeror represents the combining of two or more companies, joint venture or formal teaming agreement, for the purpose of this RFP, each company shall complete Exhibit A’s and obtain Exhibit C references.” Please clarify the total number of questionnaires (Exhibit A) that can be submitted by the Offeror and its named teaming partners.
Also, is there a limit of the number of Exhibit A’s per firm?
Response 2: Submit no more than five (5) Exhibit A’s per proposal.
3. Question: Section 3.4.3.4 states the Offeror shall discuss their performance using the Performance
Relevancy Questionnaire format (Exhibit A) and that the Offeror shall submit no more than five (5)
Exhibit A’s. Exhibit A states that the Contractor shall prepare no more than ten (10) questionnaires
(10 Exhibit A’s). Please clarify the total number of questionnaires (Exhibit A’s) that can be submitted with the proposal.
Response 3: The total number of questionnaires (Exhibit A’s) that can be submitted with the proposal is five (5).
4. Question: Please clarify which form of “illuminated sign” is required for the project. Type G on Drawing Sheet AE660 does not match what is specified in section 101400 sub-section 2.5. Please advise.
Response 4: Change paragraph 101400, 2.5, A to read as follows: “Slim Light Box LED Illuminated
Panel Sign. Provide 15-inch high by 21-inch wide by 1-inch deep box made from PVC material with face made from semi-opaque (milky color) polycarbonate sheet with reverse-applied graphics. Set face flush in box frame. Provide cover trim on face with aluminum banding. Set LED chip into back of box. Locate sign adjacent to door jamb. Screw mount. Sign to be hardwired with no visible cordage. Coordinate location with Contracting Officer and electrical trade.”
