1. Drawing CX101 “Existing Conditions Site Plan” show the existing underground electrical distribution system. The “SW” just above the existing building 256 and the manhole just above that are to be connected according to the information on drawing CU101. This is required because the new 15 KV feeders to the new Squadron Operations Facility is being fed from this switch. Do these conduits exist or are we to install new conduits to connect the manhole to this 15 KV switch? Please cross reference drawing EP501 for the electrical wiring layout.
2. If we are required to install new conduits between the manhole and the 15 KV switch as ask in the question above. What is the procedure for excavating beneath the existing 1`5 KV switching unit and is a shut down required to bring these conduits into the switch? Please provide a phasing plan for this work.
3. Drawing CU101 indicates new 4” conduit from the existing manhole to the new pad mounted transformer but does not indicate the quantity. Please specify how many conduits in this duct bank.
4. The shaded fixture symbol on drawing E001 under the lighting column indicate these fixtures to be equipped with emergency ballast. The fixture schedule on drawing EL701 note 4 indicates which fixtures are to have this ballast if they appear shaded on the plans. Or question is: if the building is being backed up by a generator with emergency panels are the emergency ballast for these fixtures still required or is this oversight?
5. Drawing EP501 is the riser diagram for the entire building. Panel board PH3 is listed as a MCB on the panel schedule drawing EP604. Should this panelboard PH3 be a main lug only instead of a main breaker?
Also panel PL2B is listed as a main lug only but this panel is required to be a main breaker. Please confirm.
6. The generator on EP501 shows a breaker for the future fire pump. Is this breaker to be included in the generator pricing package at this time or is the space required for a future breaker?
7. Note 12 on drawing EP102 shows several conference room tables with electrical devices in them. Please provide a detail for this installation. Are the boxes, covers, plates, etc supplied with the furniture?
8. in rooms 001, 103, 163, 168, 172, 203, 204, 205, A105, A113, A116 and A117 as scheduled on the room finish schedule do not match what is shown on the reflected ceiling plans. Please clarify if the room finish schedule is govern or the reflected ceiling plans.
9. Room 127 indicates an acoustical ceiling on the west side of the room. Please clarify the type of SAT for this ramp area as it is not indicated on the room finish schedule.
10. Please confirm rooms labeled as 231 and 232 on AE703 should actually be 233 and 234 as shown on
AE107. This would make sense with regards to the finish schedule room numbers.
11. The room finish schedule indicates that no ceiling finishes are required for Corridors 239 and 240. Please confirm that these ceilings should be gypsum ceilings as indicated by building sections. Will these ceilings be painted?
12. Division 26 of the specifications, section 260519 page 3 line item 3.2 G states “ branch circuits concealed in ceilings, walls and partitions: Type thhn-thwn, single conductors in raceway. The interpretation of this statement indicates I need to furnish and install an EMT raceway with individual conductors from device to device. However in line it H it states “Branch circuits installed below raised flooring: Type thhn-thwn, single conductors in raceway. Metal-clad cable, Type MC shall only be used where indicated.
13. Our question is where is type MC cable acceptable for this project? Is the engineer only stating that MC cable can be used under raised floors? Can this MC cable wiring method be used elsewhere such as concealed above ceilings, partitions and walls?
14. The use of MC cable is a very acceptable and practical wiring method approved by the National Electrical
Code. Its use is a great labor and material savings to any installation. The use of EMT vs. MC cable would reduce the overall cost to the electrical portion of this project. We would like to ask if the electrical engineer and owner will consider this wiring method throughout the entire facility and not just where indicated.
15. Section 3.4.3.3 states that “If the Offeror represents the combining of two or more companies, joint venture or formal teaming agreement, for the purpose of this RFP, each company shall complete Exhibit As and obtain Exhibit C references.” Please clarify the total number of questionnaires (Exhibit A) that can be submitted by the Offeror and its named teaming partners. Also, is there a limit of the number of Exhibit As per firm?
16. Section 3.4.3.4 states the Offeror shall discuss their performance using the Performance Relevancy
Questionnaire format (Exhibit A) and that the Offeror shall submit no more than five (5) Exhibit As.
Exhibit A states that the Contractor shall prepare no more than ten (10) questionnaires (10 Exhibit As).
Please clarify the total number of questionnaires (Exhibit As) that can be submitted with the proposal.
