SUMMARY OF CHANGES
SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
The following have been added by full text:
AMENDMENT U0005
RESPONSES TO RFI QUESTIONS
1. Drawing EP101 shows mechanical item RF1 being fed from the MSB through a combination starter/disconnect switch. The one-line diagram, on Drawing EP501 does not reflect that same scenario. I scanned the panelboard schedule and was unable to find the power source for RF1.
Please advise.
Response 1: The power source for RF-1 is MSB. See changes to Sheet EP501 listed further below.
2. Spec Section 260533 discusses conduit types and their uses. Paragraph 3.2.G states that conduit and EMT to run concealed in ceiling, walls and floors. 3.2.I.5 states to change from ENT to GRC before rising above the floor. The spec does not address the use of ENT and normally PVC Sch
40 is used in the deck. That is not mentioned either. Please clarify what type of conduit is to be used in the slab. As this is a new building, running as much conduit in the deck would make for a lesser expensive project.
Response 2: Type EPC-40-PVC is to be used in the slab. See changes to Specification Section 260533 listed further below.
3. Spec no. 122413, Roller Window Shades, calls for manual and electrically operated roller shades.
The drawings are not clear which units are to be manually operated and which are to be electrically operated. Please advise.
Response 3: Electrically operated roller shades are not required. See changes to Specification
Section 122413 listed further below.
4. Light shelves are shown on the horizontal mullion on all secondary story windows. Are light filtering and room darkening roller shade to be installed below the light shelves as well as above them on all of these windows?
Response 4: The shades shall be installed above the light shelves and, when extended, fit between the glass and the light shelf. The light shelf shall be held off the glass to allow the shades to go between the back of the shelf and the glass.
5. Does the new building have a loading dock at this site, & can the base accept a 53’ trailer to bring the Briefing room auditorium seating in?
Response 5: The building will have a loading dock but may not be in a practical location in relation to the room requiring the seating. Yes, the base can accept a 53 foot trailer.
6. Drawing EP104 contains notes for the antenna system. The roof plan itself is not clear as to the location these antennae are to be installed. There are six (6) antennae required. It looks as though (8) will be installed. Please clarify.
Response 6: Provide six (6) antennas and supports for eight (8) antennas. The extra supports are meant to accommodate future growth. See 1/AE120 for location of support brackets.
a. The Keynotes on EP104 are confusing. Note 7 states to provide a NEMA 4 pullbox with a
2” conduit to Room 173 for antenna connections. Keynote 5 says to run a 2” from each antenna to Room 173. If that is true, what purpose does the pullbox and 2” conduit serve?
Response 6, a: The purpose of the pullbox and 2” conduit indicated by Keynote 7are for anticipated future use, not for antenna to be provided under this contract.
7. Ref Drawings MH101, MH102, MH103: Can a make, model # and specification be issued for the
"Constant Airflow Regulator" scheduled and indicated on MH101, MH102 & MH103. No other information is included in the bid documents.
Response 7: American Aldes CAR-ii. See changes to Specification Section 233300 listed further below.
8. The Insulation Specifications do not cover the condensate drain piping. Is this piping to be insulated? If so, what size?
Response 8: The specification section was changed as part of Amendment 4, posted April 14, 2011.
See “Specifications” section 7, b of that document.
9. The following pieces of equipment show up on the drawings, but are not scheduled: DB (Dryer
Booster Fan), TF-2 (Transfer Fan), RM-1 & 2 (Radiant Manifolds), HUM-1 (Presumably a humidifier), and RC-1, 1A, 2, & 2A (Refrigerant Concentrators). Please provide schedules.
Response 9:
The Dryer Booster serves a conventional residential dryer. Provide a plastic booster fan kit (Fantech DBF110, Directfan 110, Air King AIDB4Y, Deflecto TF4, or equivalent);
airflow in range of 125-200 cfm.
Provide Fan TF-2 with the same specification and capacity as TF-1
Radiant Manifolds RM1 and RM2: Specification Section 238316 includes the requirements for manifold construction. The assumed number of ports may be added up from the schedule on Sheet M602, but note that the supplier’s design submittal may vary this total slightly depending on their design parameters and approach. Coordinate with radiant design submittals.
The Humidifier is scheduled on M704.
RC units – See response to question below.
10. Please provide connection details for RC-1, 1A, 2, & 2A.
Response 10: The refrigerant concentrators (“RC-xx”) are part of the system to be submitted on by the VFR manufacturer, and will presumably be included in the distributor’s quote to the subcontractor. The number of refrigerant ports must be equal to or greater than the number of evaporators shown. Note that there is also another pair, 3 and 3A, in the corridor on sheet MP102.
Connections will be per the instruction requirements of the VRF manufacturer.
11. The following drawings include references to the south-east wing as being bid option 1: P106, P702, MH104, MP101 (Note refers to MH105 as being bid option 1). In addition, none of the equipment on MH105 is scheduled on M601 or M602. It is all scheduled on M704
Response 11: The south-east wing is part of the base bid. Some changes to Mechanical and
Plumbing Sheets were made as part of Amendment 1, posted March 22, 2011. For further changes to the drawings see further below.
12. Specification Section 00100 Instructions, Conditions, and Notices to Offerors page 12 of 62 paragraph 13 stated “List of Brand Name or Sole Source Justifications posted on the FBO:
NONE”. Yet in Amendment 1 we find this statement:
23. SECTION 223600, SOLAR THERMAL HEATING SYSTEM
a. Paragraph 2.1: Delete paragraphs A and B.
b. Add paragraph 2.1, A to read as follows: “System shall be manufactured by Solar
Panels Plus (SPP). No exceptions.”

These items include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
Network Lighting Controls: Enclilium
Solar Thermal Heating System: Solar Panels Plus
Condensing Boilers: Lockinvar Knight
Locks: Best Systems
