Questions and Answers Site Visit W912J3-19-Q-5001

1 May 2019

1) Water Location - there is a water spigot by the North double doors. It is approximately 100-150 feet from the F-100. Ref PWS para 2.1.3.

2) Paint Prep - See PWS para 1.2.1, and 1.2.6. We do not specify what type of "Prep" Chemicals are to be used, as long as they are compatible with the manufacturer's recommended procedures for the top coats.

3) Time to paint, 60 days or 90 days - A solicitation amendment was issued to increase the period of performance to 90 days.

4) Damaged areas to be fixed - Any leading edge wing damage, trailing edge (Flap) damage, that would take away from the "look" of the clean airplane lines shall be fixed. 11 pictures have been added. Ref PWS Para 4. Quality Assurance Plan, Task #1 (inspect and Document Aircraft Surface for Flaws / Dents / Corrosion)

5) Bird Proofing - The Government requires bird proofing "Mesh" be used to block birds from making nests in any holes, but that the mesh be hidden from normal view as best as possible. The Government does not want Bird Spikes on any areas that would detract from the aesthetic view of the display. Ref PWS para 1.2.3, "the government shall approve all bird proofing solutions prior to installation."

6) Paint Around the Engine Cowl? - On most F-100's that were flying, any paint around the titanium engine cowl/shields would burn off due to heat. In our Color, Markings, and Insignia (CMI) package we call out that the titanium sections of the engine cowl/shields will be unpainted to preserve the look of a flying combat aircraft. This will mean that the current Silver paint will need to be removed, and nothing repainted in those sections. Ref PWS Para 1.2, CMI Package for F-100, 53-1352 (The CMI will be delivered to awardee, cannot release due to licensing issues)

7) What's under the current paint (i.e. Primer)? – Attached are some pictures of Paint flakes from the static display, and also some Scrapping to reveal whats underneath. It looks like there is a combination of Paint layers/ Primers, to include what looks like Zinc Chromate primer.
