Question & Answer Set 12
1. EPA threshold for materials to be considered asbestos containing has to contain 1% or greater and 6/10th is under the EPA's threshold. Are you mandating that all the drywall be abated prior to demolition or are we to follow the EPA guidelines and not abate since it falls below the threshold?
2. Please follow the posted update 30 June 2016:
Recent asbestos test show (none detected) in the drywall or knock down mud in the units. Point count tests do show 6/10ths of 1% in the drywall joint mud. The Contractor shall abate the drywall joints in the ceilings and walls of all units. At the Contractors discretion, he may abate all the drywall in the units prior to demolition.
