All work shall be performed in accordance with Chapter 01 of the General Technical Specification, (HNTR) unless otherwise specified in this Special Specification.

01.02 Additional Instructions

The work shall be done according to these additional instructions:

a) Earthworks for beams shall be done by hand and/or with the appropriate equipment for all depth and width.

b) All the Earthworks performed by using mechanical equipment shall be performed until a level of 20 cm above the base level, and shall include final corrections of the digging to the level and/ required slope by digging by hand and tightening the foundations as described in the following before putting the filling or pouring concrete. Before starting the excavations for base foundations or floors in areas where there exist a layer of waste, this waste shall be firstly removed in order to prevent its mixing with the local soil. Shall this mixing happens, the excavated material shall be disqualified for refilling.

c) In case of over digging, it shall be the role of the contractor to perform the flattening and tightening of the foundation by controlled refilling until the designed level. In case of shallow foundations, there shall be a refilling with thin concrete up to the level required by design for over digging due to the contractor mistake.

d) The contractor shall protect the digging from upper water penetration and flowing. The contractor shall be allowed to obstruct the water penetration in any way he wants, with the approval of the supervisor, provided that the digging shall remain protected and dry.

e) All the earthworks performed on all types of soil, shall include the disposal of the material dug outside of the site area to places approved by the authorities.
