About this file

This request for proposal outlines requirements for the construction of a combined 85,000 square foot squadron operations building and 12,000 square foot covered storage area at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. The project includes demolition of five existing buildings and structures totaling 60,300 square feet. The squadron operations building will contain various functional areas to support Special Tactics Squadron operations, including secure planning and logistics spaces, a medical area, team rooms, a simulator room, classrooms, vehicle maintenance, storage, and administrative offices. An integrated eight-story parachute drying tower and climbing wall will be constructed. Supporting facilities such as utilities, 150 parking spaces, IT infrastructure, security systems, lighting, paving, landscaping and signage are also within the project scope. Special construction considerations involve potential asbestos abatement and multiple retaining walls to accommodate grade changes, in accordance with the base's stormwater permit. Coordination with public and private utilities is required. The facilities must incorporate anti-terrorism and force protection standards per DoD requirements.
