About this file

This is a Final Report documenting maintenance dredging operations at Hague Basin, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in New York. The project involved the removal of approximately 51,640 cubic yards of material from the basin, with Area 1 requiring dredging to 15 feet below Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) plus 2 feet overdepth (9,375 CY) and Area 2 requiring dredging to 12 feet below MLLW plus 2 feet overdepth (42,265 CY). The dredged material, primarily consisting of silt and clay, was processed and transported to a contractor-furnished, State-permitted upland placement site. The work required mechanical dredging with a closed clamshell environmental bucket to comply with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Water Quality Certificate restrictions, along with multiple barges and tugboats for dredging, dewatering, and unloading operations. The contractor was responsible for obtaining all necessary federal, state, and local permits for material transportation, transfer, dewatering, processing, and final placement.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New York District administered this maintenance dredging contract covering approximately 4.35 acres of the Federal Navigation Project. The report serves as the final documentation of the completed work, submitted under Solicitation Number W912DS26BA011, with the project overseen by the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District New York.
