BIDDER’S QUESTIONS AND GOVERNMENT REPLY

1. Specification Section 10410 “Directories” directs the GC to furnish and install directories at the height and location on drawings. There are none indicated on the drawings. Please provide the quantity or location of directories. Response: Please refer to Appendix C for detail of the directories to be provided.

2. Trane is the only manufacturer listed under the split system air handlers. Are there any other manufacturers that meet the specification and are acceptable? Response: Trane was used as the basis of design; contractor may use other systems that are equal and fit within the area designated as noted in section 15600 paragraph 2.1.

3. Boiler manufacturer listed in specification only states Lochinvar. Are other boilers acceptable that meet the specifications? Response: Lochinvar was used as the basis of design; contractor may use other systems that are equal and fit within the area designated.

4. Contract Drawing C-103 you indicated a bicycle rack at the front and rear entrances of the building. There is no detail or specification provided for these bicycle racks. If they are to be part of this contract, please provide a specification so that they can be properly priced. Response:

Bicycle racks should match those noted on page 20 under “Site furnishings: Bike Racks” of the Architectural compatibility plan for McGuire Air Force Base (Attachment B added in this amendment). Standard dark brown metal rack secured to concrete pad. Provide under submittals via aforementioned guidelines.

5. Are we to assume the 14 x 10 exhaust ductwork going to EF-5 is from the kitchen hood (hood is not shown)? Also are we to assume that all 14 x 10 ducts MUST BE fired wrapped? Response:

Please refer to Drawing M-304, KITCHEN COOKING HOOD SCHEDULE.

6. Also in Room 127, it looks like steps where the seats are, need to know what we are finishing on each step. If it is a carpet tile are we wrapping the nose of the step? Response: please provide carpet tile with rubber nosing at the edge of the steps, color to be selected from manufactures standard colors.

7. Can you please provide us with the Fire Alarm vendors name and contact information?

Response: No, the government does not keep inventory of Fire Alarm vendors. Suggest using yellow pages.

8. Monico is the manufacturer of the fire alarm equipment. They will not deal with the public. I reached out to them but they would not give me any info. It’s up to the GSA contractor. Who is this? Response: Monaco is a GSA vendor and to obtain their products go to:

https://www.gsaadvantage.gov and in the search box type “GS-07F-0422K” This will display all the equipment available for purchase. Purchase from this site does require registration which can be completed by pressing “Register”, top right hand corner. Other items not listed on the site can be obtained by calling (509)926.6277.

9. Amendment 5 changed the storm main to 12" RCP. There are several 90 degree turns and several 6" roof drains. There are no fittings available for 12" Pipe thus manholes have to be added to accommodate the turns and lateral connections in the main. Please provide manhole layout drawings with inverts and a detail of how we are to connect 6" plastic pipe to 12" RCP without a manhole. This represents a substantial cost increase. Response: please provide PVC piping throughout for the storm drainage.

10. Bid Option Item No 13 indicates to deduct all work associated with repairs to exterior facade. Does this deduction include the crack repairs indicated on drawing S-400 and S-401? Response: The item includes ALL work relating to the façade, crack repairs are part of it.

11. Item No. 0015, optional bid item no. 13 only requests that "wall/brick" be deducted. Does that leave the cast stone in the project? Shouldn't the cast stone also be deleted if the brick is being deleted? Response: Correct, ALL exterior façade related work is included in this item #.
