BIDDER’S QUESTIONS AND GOVERNMENT REPLY Responses to bidder inquiries are provided "for information purposes only" and do not revise the solicitation, plans or specifications.
1. ADDENDUM # 2 page 6 drawing revision A-501 indicates add new note to provide bituminous damproofing @ foundation walls. While page 7 of addendum # 2 item 4 states delete from table of contents spec. 07 11 13 ( bit. Damproofing ) Please clarify are foundation walls to receive damproofing ? if YES please provide spec. Response: The note has been inadvertently included, it is hereby deleted from the drawing.
2. Drawing – c-104 indicates new pavement @ perimeter of new addition this does not reflect amount of paving required to be removed and replaced in order to accomplish soil exchange (5’ below bottom of footing per addendum #3 which is @ 5’ below finish floor requiring @ 10’ +- deep excavation ). Column footings extend 6’ beyond bldg footprint, add for 10 ‘ beyond the footings (per foundation note #5 drawing s-002) and for angle of repose (10’) the paving @ perimeter of addition would have to be removed and replaced 28’ to 30 ‘ beyond perimeter of addition ( not 5’ to 10’ as indicated on drawing c104.) Response:
Please see revised Drawing C-104. The final amount of pavement to replace is dependent on the contractors approach to the excavation.
3. The concrete subcontractors are planning to use excavated materials as suitable backfill for Foundation & Building Pad or is it the owners' intent to import the structural fill extending up to 10 feet outside exterior footings. Please advise. Response: The contractors may reuse the excavated material as backfill as long as it meets the requirements of the specifications for the purpose.
4. Addendum #0004 question no. 3 requested the name of the Controls Contractor who currently works at the base and the response was "controls currently being performed by the DPW staff, there is no building automation system contract". However, contract drawing M- 701 indicates connection to the existing Central Building Automation System (BAS), by Trane Tracker (BAC-NET) as the existing system. Is Trane Tracker System the existing BAS? Typically Trane Tracker is a proprietary system that can only be installed by Trane.
Kindly advise. Response: Please refer to revised notes on drawing M-701 regarding BAS connectivity.
5. After consulting with the manufacturer, the engineers cannot build a door to meet your specifications. Primarily, this is due to the weight of the product and Follow the roof pitch track is not available (due to size/weight). Please advise. Response: Please refer to the revised drawing A-301 for changes. The government has confirmed with several vendors, the revised sectional door track can be manufactured.
