About this file
The file is a revised cut/fill report spreadsheet for the Mount Saint Helens Sediment Retention Structure (SRS) Secondary Spillway Raise project. The spreadsheet calculates volume quantities for two potential spillway raise scenarios: a base contract 5-foot raise and an optional 10-foot raise. The calculations detail cut, fill, and net volume changes, with delta calculations showing the incremental differences between the 5-foot and 10-foot raise options.
Key technical assumptions include excavating a plunge pool on the downstream side and placing roller compacted concrete to raise the spillway. The volume summary shows the 5-foot raise involves 1,787 cubic yards of cut and 14,455 cubic yards of fill, while the 10-foot raise option requires 3,253 cubic yards of cut and 31,288 cubic yards of fill. The document was created by Wade Klooster on 30 June 2025 and is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' project to increase sediment retention structure storage on the North Fork Toutle River in Cowlitz County, Washington.

| Assumptions |
| 1. The base contract includes excavating to create a plunge pool on the downstream side. |
| The base contract includes placing roller compacted concrete to raise the spillway 5 feet. |
| 2. Option 1: Place roller compacted concrete 10' (i.e. 5' additional feet above the base contract elevations) |
| Voluume Summary | |||||||
| Volume Surface Name | Cut Factor | Fill Factor | 2D Area (SF) | Cut (Cu. Yd.) | Fill (Cu. Yd.) | Net (Cu. Yd.) | |
| 1. FG Volume Report (5' Raise) | 1 | 1 | 101,882 | 1,787 | 14,455 | 12,669 | Fill |
| 2. RCC Quantity (10' Raise) | 1 | 1 | 134,221 | 3,253 | 31,288 | 28,036 | Fill |

| Cut (Cu. Yd.) | Fill (Cu. Yd.) | Net (Cu. Yd.) |
| Notes |
| 1. The RCC Quantity surface used EG as the base, and compares to the FG composite surface. This means that the volume includes the 5' raise quantities. Therefore, to determine the true quantity of the 10' raise the difference between the 10' raise and the 5' raise needs to be detemrined (i.e. Delta = 10' Raise - 5' Raise) |
| Delta Cut = 3,253 CY - 1,787 CY = 1,466 CY |
| Delta Fill = 31,288 CY - 14,455 CY = 16,833 CY |
| Delta Net = 28,036 CY - 12,669 CY = 15367 CY |
