SECTION 01 11 00.00 25

SUMMARY OF WORK

PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

This Section provides a summary of the various Contract work elements and their relationship to each other. This summary describes work activities within interim construction completion date. This Section does not provide the technical detail for particular work activities, but describes the work as a whole, providing overall perspective to the separate tasks and their interrelationships. Use this Section in conjunction with all the Specification Sections and the Drawings to establish the total work requirements.

1.2 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS

1.2.1 Project Description

a. The work consists of replacing the existing 40 Ton Intake Gantry crane with a new 40 Ton Intake Gantry Crane at the Big Cliff Dam located near Gates, Oregon. The Intake Gantry Crane provides for placement of the spillway stoplogs, the penstock stoplogs, and for general servicing of the deck of the spillway.

b. If possible, the new intake crane should be fully commissioned, tested and operational prior to demolition of the existing intake crane. This may not be possible due to the limited space availability at Big Cliff Dam. If construction methods do not allow maintaining an operable intake gantry crane at all times, efforts should be made to minimize the amount of crane outage time and coordinate the outage schedule with the Contracting Officer (KO)The new crane must be fully designed, manufactured, tested, and commissioned prior to acceptance by the government. The work must include the removal of the existing intake crane which is known to have asbestos containing material and lead based paint. Demolition of the existing crane must occur after Factory Acceptance Testing of the new crane and must be coordinated with the Resident Office and Operations staff.

c. Included in this work is the replacement of the existing cable reel power supply to a conductor rail and collector system, conversion from a 3-wire to 4-wire power feed, and installation of emergency stop buttons

1.2.2 Location

The work is located at Big Cliff Dam, 44 miles east of Salem Oregon.

Contractor access to the work site will be from highway 22 on the north side of Big Cliff Dam. The exact location will be shown by the Contracting Officer (KO).

1.3 CONTRACT DRAWINGS
