SECTION 01 10 10.00 25 Page 2

The Contractor may retain these items in usable form and take possession of them providing that there is no subsequent cost or inconvenience to the Government. The Government does not guarantee that these items are complete or in working order and the Contractor must assume responsibility for any damages caused by their use immediately upon taking possession of them. Submit a disposal and salvage plan for approval detailing items, quantities, means and methods.

b. Control accumulation of waste materials and trash. Recycle or dispose of collected materials off-site at intervals approved by the Contracting Officer and in compliance with waste management procedures. Except as otherwise specified in other sections of the specifications, dispose of in accordance with the following:

1.26.1 Salvage

Salvage 400 'rectangular' roof pavers (nominal size of 12 inches by 17 inches). Salvage 900 'square' roof pavers (nominal size of 12 inches by 12 inches). Secure and store salvaged pavers on pallets. A total of 500 'square' pavers shall be secured on pallets and marked "John Day". A total of 400 'square' pavers and a total of 400 'rectangular' pavers shall be secured on pallets and marked "Chief Joseph". Pavers for "John Day" and pavers for "Chief Joseph" shall not be secured on the same pallets.

Deliver palletized salvaged pavers to a storage area within the confines of John Day Project as determined by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and Project Staff. Ensure salvaged pavers are not damaged during storage and delivery. The Contractor is responsible to replace, at their own expense, any salvaged pavers that are damaged during Contractor handling or due to improper storage. Salvage for recycling the lead pan flashings at roof drains and the lead flashings on plumbing vents. Submit Evidence of Recycling including a Bill of Lading and receipting from the approved recycling facility.

1.26.2 Reuse

Give first consideration to salvage for reuse since little or no re-processing is necessary for this method, and less pollution is created when items are reused in their original form. Coordinate reuse with the Contracting Officer. Consider sale or donation of waste suitable for reuse.

1.26.3 Recycle

Recycle waste materials not suitable for reuse, but having value as being recyclable. Recycle all pavers removed from the existing roof. Arrange for timely pickups from the site or deliveries to recycling facilities in order to prevent contamination of recyclable materials. Recycle the lead pan flashings at roof drains and the lead flashings on plumbing vents and provide submittal as indicated under paragraph 1.26.1 above.

1.26.4 Waste

Dispose of materials with no practical use or economic benefit to waste-to-energy plants where available. As the last choice, dispose of materials at a landfill or incinerator.

1.26.5 Return

Set aside and protect misdelivered and substandard products and materials
