ATTACHMENT H
Informational Notes
Subject: Informational Notes
1. The contractor can propose manufacturers other than OME as long as the proposed items are in the same or better performance class as OME and provided equipment from proposed manufacturers other than OME are warranted and warranties of all other equipment remains valid.
2. The existing Simplex fire alarm control system is addressable.
3. There are no telephones in the elevator machine rooms and telephones are not called out in the SOO for installation in the elevator machine rooms.
4. Elevators 1-2 and 3-4 are currently backed up on an emergency backup generator in
Room 1094A called A-Vault.
5. Elevators 1-2 and elevators 3-4 are passenger elevators. Only one set of passenger elevators shall be taken out of service for repair and modernization, and restored to service before removing the other set of passenger elevators for repair and modernization.
6. Elevators 1-2 and 3-4 hoistways have smoke detectors attached to the interior ceiling of the elevator shafts but heat detectors and fire suppression systems are not installed in the elevator shafts. Elevators 5, 6, 7, and 8 hoistways do not have smoke detectors, heat detectors, and fire suppression systems in the respective elevator shafts.
7. The connection of new elevator controllers to the existing fire alarm control system will need to be acceptance tested by the contractor under supervision of the Fort Huachuca fire department. Also, the installation of new smoke detectors and new heat detectors in the shafts, pits, and cars will need to be tested during the same test period, as well.
8. Refurbish or replace all passenger door wear parts.
9. The Fort Huachuca fire department will need approved drawings. The connection of new controllers to the existing fire alarm control system will need to be tested by the contractor under supervision of the Fort Huachuca fire department. Also, the installation of new smoke detectors and new heat detectors in the shafts, pits, and cars will need to be tested during the same test period, as well.
10. The roof tops of machine rooms for elevators 1-2 and elevators 3-4 were repaired in 2017 but the interior of both machine rooms were not cleaned of the water stains.
11. All of the elevator machine room entrances are not code compliant.
12. The doors of each freight elevator may not be code compliant.
13. The awarded contractor is allowed a lay down area within the fenced compound at the north side of Building 61801.
14. Hospital Emergency Commandeering Service (HECS) is not required.
15. In-Car Inspection Operation is not required.
16. Hoistway Access Operation switches are not required to be implemented exactly as stated in UFGS 14 21 23, Chapter 2.3.3, because of the construction of Building 61801. The contractor is allowed to use their experience and best practices to implement Hoistway
Access Operation switches.
17. ITG 2013-01 is superseded by UFC 3-490-06 and ITG 2013-01 shall not be referenced.
18. The contractor is allowed to use their experience and best practices to install elevator control cabinets versus the required method as stated in UFGS 14 21 23, Chapter 2.5.
19. The contractor is allowed to surface mount the FEO key box.
20. The elevator emergency power visual indicator is not required to be flush mounted. The contractor is allowed to use their experience and best practices to install the elevator emergency power visual indicator as required in UFGS 14 21 23, Chapter 2.6.8.
21. The floor finish of the freight elevators are accepted to be left as wood.
22. The requirement for freight door operator equipment and circuitry as stated in UFGS 14
21 23, Chapter 2.7.1, is waived.
23. The Emergency Medical Services designation of an elevator is waived per the Fort
Huachuca fire department. The passenger elevators are on backup emergency generator but the passenger elevator interior dimensions do not satisfy requirements as stated in
UFC 3-490-06, Chapter 2-2.3.
24. Security systems are not used with the passenger and freight elevators.
25. None of the elevator pits have sump pumps and sump pumps are not required to be installed as part of this contract effort.
26. Machine room sound mitigation as required UFC 3-490-06, Chapter 3-1.4, is not required.
