AMENDMENT 0004
RFIs
1. For spec section 072120 Spray Acoustic Insulation under the products section the spec states to be Spray-On-White Fiber. My question is if white acoustical spray is actually required. I think all of the spaces the acoustical spray is going is being covered up by acoustical ceiling tile or drywall. If we go with Tan / Natural color it will save at least tens of thousands of dollars.
Answer: 1a. The Certainteed “Performa” is an equal to the products specified in Section 09 51 13 Acoustical Panel Ceilings.
Answer: 1b. The Tan/Natural color is acceptable.
2. Under the same spec section it states the spray acoustic insulation is to be conforming with ASTM E-136. ASTM-136 is a fire proofing test not an acoustic spray test. Should I just qualify that in my bid.
Unless there is a specific product we are needing to use but the spec is not calling for one.
Answer: 2. The requirement to comply with ASTEM E-136 can be removed since the insulation is being used for thermal value not fire proofing.
