STD-188-125-1 requirements.

Per 13 27 54.03 10, a variance to all but one HEMP filter/ESA factory tests is allowed if it can be documented that the same model number filter was tested and installed at a prior MDA project at Fort Greely or Eareckson AS.

The verification level PCI test must be performed with or without the variance.

Excerpt from 13 27 54.03 10

HEMP – Field Testing Phase 1 – QC Testing

► An independent testing specialist is not required

► In progress weld inspections of all primary shield welds

► One of the additional following tests:

• Magnetic particle weld tests

• Dye penetrant weld tests

• Bubble test (vacuum box)

• SELDS

Phase 2 – Preliminary SE Testing ► An independent testing specialist is not required

► Radiated test performed before equipment, concrete floor/wearslab, CLSM, and interior finishes are installed in the buildings, but after the shield is closed.

► Allows access to all areas of the shield to preform test and take corrective action

► Fewer frequencies are needed than the acceptance SE test

► Due to temporary 12.47kV penetration in MCF, MCF and LPP shielded volumes must be isolated during this test.

HEMP – Field Testing

Phase 3 – Shielding Effectiveness Acceptance Testing ► LPP Acceptance Testing will occur Pre-Integration

► An independent testing specialist is required

► Perform radiated testing per MIL-STD-188-125-1 Appendix A.

► Performed after construction is substantially complete and all equipment is installed

► No welding to the shield or penetrations to the shield are allowed after this test without retesting of the affected area.

► Perform PCI Testing on all HEMP Filters/ESAs

► MCF and LPP shielded volumes must be isolated during this test.

► 2nd Round of Shielding Effectiveness Acceptance Testing will be required for portion of the MCF around the link connection and where temporary MCF penetrations are sealed after integration (See Integration Plan)

Extended frequency – Baseline only ► The purpose of extended frequency testing is to establish baseline electromagnetic radiation (EMR) shielding effectiveness measurements.

► Similar test method to SE testing but higher frequencies

► No pass or fail criteria

HEMP – CLSM

HEMP shield floor will be covered with a concrete protective wear slab

CLSM (depth varies depending on location in LPP) will be poured between the concrete wear slab protecting the HEMP floor shield and the final finished floor slab.

The CLSM layer thickness is designed to accommodate multiple levels of underfloor conduit and piping trenches.

Generally, larger conduits with a larger elbow sweep radius are lower in the

CLSM.

The design depicts the minimum conduits to be installed in the CLSM.

Excerpt from E-901140C

Excerpt from E-901311C

HEMP – Special Protective Measures

MIL-HDBK-423, section 14 allows the use of special protective measures (SPMs) to protect mission critical motors that must be located outside of the shield

SPMs are applied to the LPP radiators located outside of the LPP facility and employ:

► Use of HEMP Filter/ESAs for the power penetration through the shield wall

► Use of TEFC motor with no electrical controls outside of the shield.

► Combination of PVC coated Rigid shielded conduit, flexible HEMP shielded conduit for conveyance of power to RF gasketed MOV enclosures, from MOV enclosure to the RF gasketed motor terminal housings.
