Uses complex test instruments such as waveform generators, logic analyzers, digital oscilloscopes, IR scopes, hyper terminals, and complex computer control equipment. Work may be reviewed by a supervisor or engineer for general compliance with accepted practices. Must be able to provide technical guidance to lower level technicians as well as operating and maintenance instructions to equipment operators. Work will include cross-utilization into other jobs as required. May require some overtime, weekend work, and possibly TDY assignments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstration of satisfactory skill and good performance in the particular field; two years progressive experience in the specific field in addition to graduation from a two year resident course at a technical institute, or a total of five years progressive experience in the specific field. Demonstrated experience must include expertise in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of optical tracking instruments such as LATS, MATS, VTMs, and DOAMS, their computer control systems, networks, servo control systems; associated electronic, electrical, mechanical, fiber optics and computerized support equipment; and the interface to high speed digital video and IR systems. A minimum of four years of progressive computer experience in PC operations as applied to computer-controlled instrumentation is required. Experience using Windows XP or later Operating System software and computer networks. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. | 550 | - 0 | 1,095 | - 0 | 730 | 1,460 | ||
| ELECTRONIC OPTICAL Technician A | POSITION DESCRIPTION: Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs various types of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and related devices used on Optical tracking systems such as LATS and MATS KTMS, VTMs, and mobile DOAMS. The tracking mount instrumentation includes such items as personal and industrial computers and terminals and VME-based systems, industrial, measuring, and controlling equipment; and remote control systems. Must be familiar with multiple digital IO interface protocols (such as Ethernet and RS-232), common operating systems, Optics and equipment-specific software, and word processing and spreadsheet programs. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles and software in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skills in restoring equipment operations. Sets up, operates and maintains a variety of electronic instrumentation equipment such as ROSS/ICE computers, PC Trackers, Servo and read out chassis by Brashear, and mount control PCs. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems may include determining the location and function of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. Performance test electronic systems and equipment prior to test support to verify operation is within OEM and test support parameters. Understands and follows Preventive Maintenance Scheduled Program (PMSP), calibration, security, safety, property control, and environmental procedures. May be required to complete daily, monthly, and maintenance reports. Work typically requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits. Exercises independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstration of satisfactory skill and good performance in the particular field; three years progressive experience in the specific field in addition to graduation from a two year resident course at a technical institute, or a total of six years progressive experience in the specific field.
