Overview The System Usability Scale (SUS) is based on a ten-item questionnaire, which is used to evaluate system usability. Soldiers will rate the system on a 5 point Likert scale where 1 means “Strongly Disagree” and 5 means “Strongly Agree”.
The below survey utilizes a valid modification (Sauro, pg. 62) of the SUS where all of the questions have a positive tone. This approach is used to maintain consistency within the responses, and avoids potential sources of error due to soldier misinterpretation improving reliability.
The SUS, score is calculated by totaling an individual’s responses, then, the analyst subtracts ten from the sum of each cumulative response, to generate the raw score. The SUS score is the product of the raw score and a factor of 2.5. It must be noted that while SUS score ranges from 0-100, these scaled scores do not represent a percentage, for example, a SUS score of 68 falls within the 50th percentile.
