2021 CONSOLIDATED CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

1. For the hydrant repair project, the project description calls for a flow test on any “functional repair” work. What constitutes functional repair work and how many flow tests should we allow for if we don’t actually know which hydrants might need work until after we’ve started the repairs?

Answer: At this time, functional repair would only apply to hydrants #18 and #32 which require internal replacement parts as noted under Section 2, Hydrant Repair. Plan on performing two complete flow tests with reports.

2. For flow testing these hydrants, which test do we use, a PITOT test or does it just need to be witnessed by the fire department and base operations?

Answer: Please complete a PITOT flow test and submit reports to include a static hydrant and nearest residual hydrant.

3. Will we have access to all hydrants during the walk through? If not, can someone take pictures of each hydrant so we can verify their condition and manufacture/model?

Answer: The government cannot provide access to all hydrants during walkthrough. Please see file “Hydrant Photos.pdf” for a representative photo taken as well as photos of damaged hydrants #18 and #32.

4. There doesn’t seem to be a specification or model number for the roll up doors or the overhead fire door. Please provide.

Answer: The existing overhead door is manufactured by Overhead Door. The government did not provide a brand or model number for the proposed door, as that would have excluded competition from other manufacturers. Doors need to meet performance characteristics provided.

5. The gutter installation notes call for us to install a gutter compatible with the existing roof panel and per the manufactures installation details. What is the manufacture of the existing roof panel?

Answer: The original drawings for B131 list Butler Construction on the roof details.

6. What is the color of the existing metal eave trim we are supposed to match for the new gutter?

Answer: We do not have documentation on the exact color of the panels. The Contractor shall provide samples to color match the existing building as closely as possible.

7. (From site visit) B300 – What are the distances from the VAV’s to the floor?

Answer: Measurements were taken from the floor to drop ceiling locations in the VAV vicinities. The follow heights were recorded:

Room 1 – 9ft Room 4 – 9ft Room 5 – 14ft Room 7 – 8ft Room 10a – 14ft (slopes downward halfway) Room 10b – 14ft (slopes downward halfway) Room 13 – 9ft Room 14 – 9ft Room 18 – 14ft Room 25 – 14ft Room 28 – 11ft Room 29 – 9ft

8. (From site visit) B150 Tool Room & Lights – Is the wall construction CMU or stud on the NE wall of rm 166? Wall between rm 165 and rm 166.

Answer: Wall is comprised of gypsum wall board over metal stud furring over CMU.

9. (From site visit) B150 Tool Room & Lights – Does the proposed conduit going to LP-4 need to be painted?

Answer: No.

10. (From site visit) B150 Tool Room & Lights – Please get more information on Room 162 and its ceiling/wall construction.

Answer: Both walls in Room 162 depicted on plans are metal stud with gypsum wall board.

It is the same height/ceiling type as the adjacent room 165 for tool parts/storage as observed during the walkthrough. Corridor 161 ceiling type is suspended ceiling grid.

11. (From site visit) B150 Tool Room & Lights – Please supply more information about where the nearest interior circuit would be located for the exterior lights.

Answer: Please see attached drawing E-125 for as-builts of lighting circuits from B150’s construction. MOC area ceiling is composed of acoustic ceiling tile, tool room second floor (Area D) ceiling is exposed and lighting is suspended and accessible. See photos titled “B150 2nd Floor Tool Room” and “B150 MOC Ceiling”.

12. (From site visit) B140 Radio Room HVAC – Please get photos of the elect/mech rooms and of the roof.

Answer: Please see photos: B140 Photos.pdf

13. (From site visit) B140 Radio Room HVAC – Please supply as-builts of the concrete wall construction in B140’s basement.

Answer: See attached image capture from as-built named B140 Basement Wall.pdf.

Assume this thickness and rebar reinforcement for all concrete walls.

14. (From site visit) B140 Radio Room HVAC – Please supply condenser pad details for the outside units.

Answer: Condensers can sit directly on concrete apron in locations shown on project drawings.

15. (From site visit) B131 Gutter – What is the height of B131?

Answer: Roof height is approximately 37’-6”.

16. (From site visit) Munitions IDS Infrastructure – Can the conduit be run below the sheetrock in the mechanical room?

Answer: Yes.

17. (From site visit) Munitions IDS Infrastructure – In the drawings, it shows a conduit path through one of the wing walls before it gets to the exterior panel. Is this coring through, or wrapping around, like the other conduits seen on the site visit?

Answer: The conduit can wrap around the concrete prior to the panel.

18. (From site visit) Munitions IDS Infrastructure – Can the size of the conduit be decreased in order to decrease the size of the core into the bunkers?

Answer: No. Plan to provide core large enough for applicable O.D. on 2” EMT.

19. (From site visit) Munitions IDS Infrastructure – There was an empty conduit observed on the exterior of Bunker K. What is that?

Answer: The empty conduit on Bunker K is for future Advantor security system. These conduits are not available for use on this project.

20. (From site visit) B312 Vehicle Lift – What is the contractor’s responsibility regarding the vehicle lift itself?

Answer: The contractor is not responsible for installing any part of the lift itself.

21. (From site visit) B312 Vehicle Lift – There was radiant flooring discussed within the concrete slab during the site visit. What is the status of that?

Answer: The radiant tubing in the area of the slab to be demolished is abandoned. There is adjacent active radiant tubing shown on as-builts beyond the extents of the demo area.

22. (From site visit) B310 Secure DFAC Openings – Can the ceilings be modified to accommodate the roll up doors?

Answer: Yes. If modified, maintain access for proper operation and maintenance of all door components.

23. (From site visit) B310 Secure DFAC Openings – Are the proposed doors automatic or manually operated?

Answer: Manual.

24. (From site visit) B310 Secure DFAC Openings – Can you get more information for what is above the ceilings where the roll up doors are proposed?

Answer: See attached file B310 Openings.pdf for photos above drop ceilings of proposed locations.

25. Could you provide representative picture(s) of spalled areas in hanger 130.

Answer: See attached files: Typical edge crack.pdf; Typical spall repair 1.pdf; Typical spall repair 2.pdf; Typical spall repair 3.pdf .

REMINDER – ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MONDAY 23 AUGUST –
