About this file
This document contains answers to questions regarding electrical specifications for a building repair project. The project involves repairing Building 408 Dormitory for the Tennessee Army National Guard. Metal clad, armored, and nonmetallic sheathed cables cannot be used except for light fixture whips and service entrance. SE and USE cables are permitted only for the service entrance from the pad mounted transformer to the main switchboard through existing underground conduits. The mechanical room cabinets must be NEMA 12 rain tight with welded conduit hubs. Portable fire extinguishers are not required. The building will be unoccupied during construction. The CQC Manager can also serve as the SSHO if qualified for both roles. Existing fiber and copper telecommunications lines will be back pulled to manhole MH-14 and reinstalled with new equipment once construction is complete. All communications wiring is part of CLIN-002.

Answer 1. 26 20 00 3.1.1 indicates to provide insulated conductors installed in rigid steel conduit, IMC, rigid non‐metallic conduit, or EMT except where specifically indicated or specified otherwise or required by NFPA 70. Type MC would be permitted for light fixture whips, concealed install only.
Question 2. Specification 26 20 00 3.1.3.3 indicates Armored Cable. Can Armored Cable be used in walls and in ceilings on this project?
Answer 2. 26 20 00 3.1.1 indicates to provide insulated conductors installed in rigid steel conduit, IMC, rigid non‐metallic conduit, or EMT except where specifically indicated or specified otherwise or required by NFPA 70. Type AC cable is NOT permitted.
Question 3. Specification 26 20 00 3.1.9 indicates Nonmetallic Sheathed Cable Installation. Can
