About this file
This document is a Hazard Abatement Plan for a paint facility within a maintenance squadron, dated 11 APR 2006. The plan identifies serious ventilation deficiencies in rooms 8 and 9 of building 1046, where the paint booth does not adequately draw paint vapors away from workers, creating significant health and fire hazards. Interim control measures include mandatory full face respirator use, ensuring all doors remain open for ventilation, and reducing spraying applications until the facility can be repaired/renovated.
The project has a total cost of $3,000,000, with an estimated completion date of 30 SEP 2020. The project is currently in the design phase, with the functional manager being Christopher A. Gamble from the 169 Maintenance Squadron. The abatement plan classifies the hazard as a Risk Assessment Code (RAC) 2 - Serious, with a severity level of II and a probability of "B" (Probable will Occur in Time). The primary objective is to submit the project through Civil Engineering to repair and renovate the paint facility to meet current codes and requirements.

The structural Maintenance paint booth does not meet the requirement for the ventilation system. It does not adequately draw the paint vapor away from the individual working in the area. This creates a serious health and fire hazard. Ventilation in rooms 8 and 9 of building 1046 does not function properly. Air flow in ventilation system in room 8 was found to be low and no air flow in room 9 during the ventilation survey.
