About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) containing clarification responses to three specific technical questions about transformer maintenance. The responses address: (1) oil sample collection locations, confirming samples may be taken from sample ports regardless of physical location, (2) cleaning material requirements, specifying that solvents must be free of hazardous materials and properly disposed, and (3) maintenance definition, which is defined as including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of system components. The responses appear to be supplementary technical guidance related to the Medium Voltage Electrical Distribution System Maintenance solicitation (W50S8D25Q17CL) issued by the Department of the Army National Guard.

Text version
1. The PMTL states that oil samples on the transformer must come from the top of the transformer. Can you clarify if samples are permissible from the sample ports, which are usually located at the bottom?
The samples may come from the sample port, regardless of physical location.
2. Is there a requirement for environmentally conscious cleaning materials for cleaning and oil samples?
Cleaning solvents used must be free of hazardous materials. Proper disposal of any solvents used is required.
3. Is there a clearer definition of the maintenance as the PMTL is vague?
Maintenance shall include cleaning, lubrication and inspection of system components.
