Questions and Answers
W50S7G25BA002
POL Gate Renovation
Date: 23 April 2025
Q1: Your statement/scope of work calls for an aluminum frame gate however, the hardware description is vague.
A1: Provide standard hardware needed to complete the project. A gate catch is required at closing end, please see Amendment 0001
Q2: Please verify that you want an aluminum and not steel cantilever sliding gate.
A2: We want aluminum. We have had trouble with steel gates sagging and causing more wear and tear on the motors.
Q3: The aluminum gate would be more susceptible to high winds due to less weight.
You can specify a dual track aluminum gate to counter the wind issue.
You can add a wind brace to the steel gate for the full length of the gate for stability.
Q3: Please see Amendment 0001
Q4: Low voltage Keypads are usually powered from the gate operator unless too many devices are being powered by operator. Please advise your spec requiring power from breaker panel.
Section D in your scope of work.
A4: Power keypad from operator is acceptable.
Q5: We can cut a 1-1/2 deep trench in the asphalt and install the 4 necessary wire and seal with the same sealant used for vehicle loops. Please advise if acceptable. Digging permit not needed for this activity.
A5: If this is referring to the keypad and pedestal, please see Amendment 0001
Q6: Would you consider specifying square gate posts and square gate frame for the pedestrian gate so that we can minimize the gaps for the standard hardware and provide greater security.
We use self closing hinges in lieu of closer. Is this acceptable? Section E in your scope of work.
A6: The gate in section E already exists and we don’t want to replace the gate post. Self-closing hinges are acceptable (the intent is for the gate to self-close once walked through)
Q7: Would an alternate gate operator manufacturer be acceptable?
A7: Yes, but must meet the specs of operator called out.
Q8: Do we need a grounding wheel for the rolling gate?
A8: See Amendment 0001
Q9: What type of security slats in the walk-through gate and 1 ft outside of the gate on both sides?
A9: Metal panel. See Amendment 0001
Q10: Temp fence 7' tall or 6' tall (Temp panels are (10' & 12' x 6') I can make some special ones for this.
A10: Temp fence can be 6’ in height, no barbed wire is required.
Q11: What is the height the gate can be off the pavement?
A11: Gate shall be no more than 6” off finished height of pavement.
Q12: An additional set of heated reflective safety eyes needs to be added per their request to have them higher than ASTM standards.
A12: See Amendment 0001
