About this file

The document is a Criminal Background Check policy from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Procurement Services, located in Arlington, Texas. The policy outlines requirements for contractors performing work on university campus, specifically detailing the mandatory screening and approval process for individuals assigned to work at the university. Contractors must provide a comprehensive list of all potential workers and conduct criminal background checks before commencing work, with specific disqualifying criminal history categories that would prevent an individual from being assigned to campus duties.

The policy requires contractors to certify compliance through signed letters, with updates required whenever personnel changes occur. Prohibited criminal backgrounds include drug distribution, sexual offenses, violent crimes, child endangerment, murder, kidnapping, theft, and crimes involving moral turpitude. The university's Office of Human Resources retains discretion to consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis, evaluating the nature and severity of any criminal offenses. This policy appears to be a standard operating procedure to ensure campus safety and mitigate potential risks associated with contractor personnel.
