About this file

This document provides a template and instructions for creating a topology diagram for federal contract opportunities. The template outlines how to depict communication flows both within and external to the agency's accreditation boundary. It includes examples of commonly used ports for various systems and services. Specific instructions are given for labeling external connections, cloud technologies, wireless communication, and medical device attachments. The related federal contract opportunity is for a slit lamp with imaging software for the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.

Topology Directions Topology diagram must match PPS tab All ports required for use within ACL must be on diagram Legend on template identifies color coding for lines within diagram All arrows must depict communication flow (in, out, bidirectional) External connection (S2S) must note the approved MOU number, all PPS required (external IP will be listed on PPS tab) Depict VPN, Citrix, webex Cloud – if system uses cloud technologies, identify approval number Internal communication within the accreditation boundary must be depicted.

If the devices do not utilize 10.x.x.x, please specify generic ‘192.x.x.x’ or ‘172.x.x.x’ If wireless communication is only within VLAN and does not require VA IP’s through mobile1md please note: wireless communication is internal only If a medical device/peripherals is attached to a workstation, please specify how these devices communicate (i.e. USB, port, IP) exclude keyboard and mouse.
