About this file
This document is a Data Item Description (DID) establishing the format and content requirements for Test/Inspection Reports. The DID, identified as DI-NDTI-80809B and approved on January 24, 1990, is administered by the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) at P/AFMC-DOP and applies to engineering developmental, preliminary qualification, qualification, and acceptance testing activities.
The Test/Inspection Report is used to document test/inspection results, findings, and analyses that enable government or contracting agencies to evaluate compliance with system requirements, performance objectives, specifications, and test/inspection plans. The preparation instructions require contractors to organize reports in a specific structure including: a cover page with report date, number, contractor information, contract details, and security classification; a table of contents; an introduction detailing test/inspection objectives and items tested; test/inspection requirements and performance parameters; a summary of significant results, conclusions, and recommended corrective actions; reference documents; test equipment identification with calibration status; facility installation and setup descriptions; complete testing procedures and sequences; test results and analysis including recorded data, matrices comparing achieved versus required results, and discussion of anomalies and discrepancies; conclusions addressing procedure effectiveness and item performance; and recommendations regarding acceptability, additional testing, redesign, problem resolution, and facility improvements. The report must include authentication certifications for test/inspection results, prior validation, and acceptability determinations, each signed by authorized contractor personnel and government witnesses. Appendices should contain detailed test data, drawings, photographs, and other documentation too voluminous for the main body. This DID supersedes DI-NDTI-80809A and DI-MISC-80653.
