About this file

This document is a Technical Requirements document for Invitation for Bid No. 226060 issued by the City of Tucson's Business Services Department, Shared Services Procurement Division. The bid solicits proposals for automatic transmission rebuilding and exchange services across four transmission groups: General Motors, Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and Allison Automatic Transmissions. The technical requirements outline detailed specifications for transmission rebuilding, including provisions for pricing, additional parts, torque converters, delivery, defective transmission replacement, transmission fluid requirements, repair protocols, and potential exchange unit options.

The bid requires contractors to provide comprehensive pricing for transmission rebuilds that include remove and replace labor rates, torque converters, and all necessary sensors/electrical components. Bidders must submit pricing for both base rebuild costs and additional parts that might be required to return transmissions to manufacturer specifications. The City of Tucson will be responsible for vehicle transportation to the contractor's facility, and the contractor must handle delivery of rebuilt or exchanged transmissions. Key requirements include using synthetic transmission fluid during rebuilds, only repairing the specific transmission originally sent, and potentially providing off-the-shelf exchange units that meet original manufacturer specifications, subject to the city's case-by-case approval.
