About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for R2 Consultant SV0194-26 Air Monitoring for Year 2028. The Q&A addresses two specific technical details about air sampling requirements: (1) sampling methodology for beryllium, silica dust, and phosphor compounds, and (2) sampling specifications for phosphor compounds. The document clarifies that multiple sampling trains/equipment cannot be worn by a single worker and must be distributed across different workers. For phosphor compounds, the sampling should be conducted for respirable phosphorus using respirable dust measurement techniques.

Air Monitoring – Year 2028
1. With the addition of beryllium, silica dust, and phosphor compounds, is the expectation that multiple sampling trains will be worn concurrently by workers, or should sampling be conducted separately? Sampling conducted separately. Does this mean multiple sampling trains and/or equipment (pump and/or dosimeter) cannot be on a single person? Correct, multiple sampling trains/equipment should be placed on different workers.
3. For phosphor compounds, should sampling be conducted for total particulate (total dust) or respirable dust? Respirable dust. Is the phosphor compounds sampled as respirable dust or as respirable phosphorus? Respirable phosphorus.
