About this file
This document is a specifications package for the Nogales Ranger Station Waterline Connection project, issued by the U.S. Forest Service (Southwest Region 03, Coronado National Forest) in July 2025.
The project involves constructing approximately 115 linear feet of new 6-inch potable waterline to connect the Nogales Ranger Station to Valle Verde Water Company's existing water main, transitioning the station from an on-site well to municipal water supply. The base bid work includes: furnishing and installing a new 6-inch water meter to replace the existing 1-inch meter; installing the waterline with all necessary fittings, valves, and appurtenances; capping existing 8-inch and 4-inch waterlines while maintaining service to the Ruby House and warehouse sprinkler system; installing a 2-inch double check valve assembly at the warehouse overhead fill station; installing a 2-inch air release valve and 2-inch post flushing hydrant at specified locations; and carefully removing and replacing existing fencing crossed by the waterline. The optional bid includes furnishing and installing a 6-inch Reduced Pressure Principle Zone Assembly with concrete slab, enclosure, and testing, contingent upon water pressure verification and cross-connection control requirements. Key materials specified include ductile iron and PVC pipe, AWWA-compliant backflow prevention devices, cast-in-place or precast concrete (minimum 3,000 psi), and NSF-certified plumbing components for potable water contact. All work must comply with current editions of the International Building Code, American Water Works Association standards, OSHA regulations, and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality requirements. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits, coordinating with Valle Verde Water Company and Santa Cruz County, protecting existing utilities and site vegetation, performing hydrostatic testing at 150 psi minimum, disinfecting new waterlines with chlorine, and providing as-built drawings and operation/maintenance documentation upon project completion.
