About this file

The file is a comprehensive set of technical specifications for a roofing replacement project at the Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory. The specifications detail requirements for replacing existing roofing on Wings A, B, C, and D, including increasing roof insulation thickness on A, B, and C wings. The technical sections cover multiple aspects of the project, including mobilization, submittal procedures, quality requirements, execution and closeout requirements, cutting and patching, selective structure demolition, rooftop fall protection, rough carpentry, EPDM roofing, sheet metal flashing and trim, joint sealants, aluminum-framed entrances and storefronts, door hardware, glazing, and building accessories.

Key technical requirements include using Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer (EPDM) roofing with specific performance characteristics, such as a minimum 60-mil composite thickness, thermal resistance, and wind uplift resistance. The project also includes optional window replacements on the north elevation of B-Wing. Specific installation standards mandate compliance with manufacturer guidelines, ASTM standards, and quality control procedures. Warranty provisions include a 20-year manufacturer's warranty for the roofing system and a minimum 5-year workmanship warranty, with an optional extension to 20 years. The specifications provide detailed guidance on materials, installation methods, testing, and performance expectations for each component of the roofing and associated systems.
