About this file
This document is a comprehensive technical specifications file for a resinous epoxy-based high-performance decorative mortar flooring system for the Lower-Level Pharmacy at a VA Medical Center (Project 553-25-500). The specifications detail a seamless, multi-component epoxy flooring system with a nominal 3/16-inch thickness, including a primer, epoxy mortar base coat, grout coat, and clear polyurethane sealer, specifically designed for a healthcare environment.
The flooring system requires a certified installer and must meet rigorous performance standards, including chemical resistance, compressive strength of 6,000 psi, low VOC content, and a slip-resistant finish with a dynamic coefficient of friction of 0.42 dry and wet. Key requirements include precise substrate preparation, moisture vapor transmission testing, temperature and humidity controls during installation, and a one-year warranty covering both materials and workmanship. The system includes an integral 1-inch radius cove base and is intended to provide a durable, seamless surface suitable for medical facility use.
