About this file
This file contains detailed technical specifications for a window replacement project at Building 2J of the Dallas VA Medical Center. The project involves comprehensive window replacement, including curtainwall and skylight systems, with a focus on removing and replacing existing windows across multiple floors and orientations. The specifications cover extensive requirements for aluminum-framed windows, curtain walls, glazing, and related architectural components, with specific details on materials, performance standards, installation procedures, and finish requirements.
The project scope includes replacing windows on the west, south, east, and north sides of the building, with multiple phases targeting different sections and floors. Technical specifications mandate high-performance aluminum window systems with thermal breaks, specific U-value and air infiltration requirements, and windborne debris impact resistance. The windows must meet stringent performance criteria including water penetration resistance, condensation resistance, and energy efficiency standards. The project will utilize specialized glazing materials, including low-E insulated glass units, and requires careful installation with attention to air and vapor barrier continuity, thermal movement accommodations, and precise architectural integration.
