Background Statement
The FBI’s mission is to protect and defend the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners; and to perform these responsibilities in a manner that is responsive to the needs of the public and is faithful to the Constitution of the United States.
The mission of the Radio Engineering Unit (REU) is to provide secure, tactical, interoperable wireless communications in support of FBI and DOJ national security and law enforcement operations. The main effort is the operation and maintenance of the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system, the largest LMR network in the world.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Radio Program, Little Rock field office is requesting funding to repair and modify the Huttig (LR-025) tower. Ice has damaged the antenna, fiber and antenna beyond repair. The elevator on site is unreliable and the FBI is unable to reach the repeater at the 1200 FT level for repair and maintenance. The FBI currently leases space at this tower from American Tower Asset Sub, LLC. The government will provide the materials needed to complete the relocation of the antenna and feedline.
