About this file

This addendum is a Response to Questions document issued by Goodwin University Inc. for the South Meadows Multi-Use Recreational Trail Phase V project in Wethersfield, Connecticut, dated June 15, 2026. The document addresses a bidder inquiry regarding the location and installation requirements of split rail fencing on the project plans. The addendum clarifies that split rail fence installation is required at two specific locations—Station 00+27 and Station 13+12—where threatened or endangered plant species were identified during a previous environmental survey. These locations are referenced on Sheet SP-1 of the drawing set with note #5. For bidding purposes, contractors are instructed to assume a total of 48 linear feet of split rail fence installation. Prior to construction, a field survey will be conducted by others to verify whether these species remain present and identify any new species locations in the field.

The addendum does not specify pricing information, contract terms, or award details in the provided content. The response indicates that bid preparation should account for the full 48 linear feet of fencing as a conservative estimate, with the understanding that final quantities and locations may be adjusted based on pre-construction field surveys conducted by the project owner. The document serves as clarification to prospective bidders to ensure accurate cost estimation and project planning for this trail construction phase.

INVITATION TO BID

GOODWIN UNIVERSITY INC.

SOUTH MEADOWS MULTI-USE RECREATIONAL TRAIL PHASE V

WETHERSFIELD, CT

Addendum No. 1

Response to Questions

June 15, 2026

Question: I am having trouble locating the split rail fence on the plan. There is a detail but I do not see the location of installation on the plans. Can you please point it out on the plans for me?

Response: The split rail fence is required where threatened or endangered plant species are found within

6’ of the edge of the proposed trail. There are two locations, at Station 00+27 and Station 13+12, where threatened or endangered plant species were identified during a previous survey. See Sheet SP-1 in the drawing set and note #5 on shown on Sheet SP-1. Prior to construction, a field survey will be conducted by others to verify (and mark in the field) if these species are still present and/or if there are new species. For the purpose of bidding, the contractor shall assume 48 LF of split rail fence to be installed.
