About this file

This is a product specification document for sorbent booms procured by the State of Maine under an Annual Master Agreement for Sorbent Pads and Booms. The specifications establish minimum performance requirements for oil sorbent booms to be supplied during the 2011-2012 period. The booms must be constructed from micro-fibrous melt-blown polypropylene fill with nylon mesh outer covering and a full-length polypropylene rope tied to rings and connecting clips. The booms shall measure 4-5 inches in diameter by 10 feet in length, be arranged in a cylindrical shape with clips and rings for overlapping connections, and demonstrate hydrophobic and oleophilic properties. The material must be non-linting and resistant to shredding under physical activity. Products are to be packaged at four pieces per bale, with 20 bales per pallet, shrink-wrapped and palletized to a maximum height of 8 feet.

No additional information regarding pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent vendors, funding sources, or other financial considerations is contained within this specifications document. The document serves solely as a technical guide establishing the minimum acceptable performance and construction standards that suppliers must meet to qualify for participation in the state's sorbent boom procurement under the master agreement.
