Exhibition Program Statement of Work Web Design and Production SAMPLE TASK Template C

Purpose

The Exhibition Program is undertaking a new project that explores the history of the 1964 Rubella epidemic in the United States and the scientific and social response to the disease. Tentatively titled

XXXXXX.

National Library of Medicine requests a cost proposal to design a fully responsive online exhibition, typical education resources using newly developed Template C. In addition, this online exhibition includes a Digital Gallery of 30‐40 items.

This task, including the responsive Digital Gallery for Template C, shall adhere to the specifications outlined in the original Statement of Work and the accepted proposal/clarifications that form the foundation for this purchase order including updated Section 508 requirements and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v. 2 (rating AA minimum), in addition to the following:

Statement of Work

The scope of this website includes Exhibition Home, Exhibition Collection, Education, and Digital Gallery with links to Traveling Services that are typical for Template C. The content will be typical of the examples provided as part of the original Statement of Work for this purchase order.

The newly designed and responsive Digital Gallery shall integrate with Template C. No activities are planned for this site.

The web designer will follow the methodology outlined in the original Statement of Work and the accepted proposal/clarifications. This project will follow a typical development process.

However, because this task is for a responsive site, developing a different methodology to recognize and take advantage of responsive features including emphasizing design for small format mobile devices is encouraged. The dynamic nature of responsive websites is an emphasis at each decision‐making stage.

Thus, the web designer may propose any modifications to the process outlined in the original Statement of Work and the accepted proposal/clarifications to best achieve the project goals.

The business goals for this site are:

Increase user engagement measured, for example by time, actions, number of items user accesses on the site.

Google search results more easily find individual assets in Exhibition Collection

The user goals/needs for this site are:

Users are able to identify and select/view assets to meet users’ interests or tasks

Users are able to navigate among assets easily and in a self‐directed manner

Users can discern that they may link to other Library resources.

The web designer will follow the methodology outlined in the original Statement of Work in addition to the following:

The practice of reviewing static, 2‐dimensional designs for one device category (desktop) without a full exploration, explanation, and demonstration of functionality across all responsive devices is not efficient for the Library and needs to better accommodate responsive requirements. In order to achieve improved access to information, user‐centric navigation, and intuitive pathways that are intentional, the following is called out for this task:

1. The Exhibition Program and VENDOR will work together to establish schedule milestones that acknowledge new work flows related to the responsive process. VENDOR will then incorporate those milestones and develop a project schedule.

2. Work flow process is responsive to the project’s 3 target device categories—desktop, tablet, and mobile devices and each device category is given equal consideration at each step of the process

3. Usability requirements are considered across all 3 target device categories, so each device category is given equal consideration at each step of the process and approvals/decisions made for one platform do not become default solutions for other platforms

4. Functional demonstrations and recommendations will be developed across 3 target device categories, so each device category is given equal consideration at each step of the process and approvals/decisions made for one platform do not become default solutions for other platforms

5. Technical requirements will be evaluated across 3 target device categories, so each device category is given equal consideration at each step of the process and approvals/decisions made for one platform do not become default solutions for other platforms

6. Task flow chart or other tools reflect functionality across 3 target device categories

Vendor will perform preliminary quality assurance testing of html buildouts across 3 target devices and relevant browsers prior to delivery to the Library. The Library will test the delivered product to confirm features function as described and approved.
