Exhibition Template C Data Entry How to access exhibition content: HMDExhibitions4 > HMDExhibitions > OCCS Databases > For Beth Usually complete Exhibition then Education

1. Open script (Word Doc file)

2. Go into TeamSite, create new directory (*Must create an education folder – sometimes automatically generated)

3. Delete any existing index file and create a new one

1. File > Create Page > New Exhibition > name file as "index"

4. Published date cannot be modified so make sure it is what you want or specified by creator of exhibition (For Harry Potter's World, original published date (in 2008) was used)

Formatting Details Category - Exhibition Digital Gallery - Winston provides, leave Digital Gallery Right until you're ready Image - copy from old template and change to appropriate folder ( ____.jpg) Link - html Image - jpg Use multiple characters as placeholders for required areas

HTML Details (words = content) Always open and close (Ex: <p> ________ </p> Paragraph <p> words </p> Bold <strong> words </strong> Italicize <em> words </em> Quotes &ldquo; words &rdquo;

Link <a href = "words.html" target="_blank"> Apostrophe &#8217;

Date (also used for those long pauses instances) &ndash;

Long dash &mdash;

Return break <br> words <br /> Ordered list (numbers it for you, only used for numbered list) <ol> words </ol> Bulleted list is considered an unordered list and uses <ul> words </ul> Each list bullet <li> words </li> Headers written as h1, h2, etc must go in order, therefore it is best to use an old template for guidance Chart of character and symbol codes

Adding a Video Put the video and transcript files in a separate video folder under the exhibition

Add any thumbnails for education resources in the image folder under the exhibition

To Build an HMD page for the Video Use the HMD generic template following the example: https://teamsite.nlm.nih.gov/iw-mount/default/main/nlm/WORKAREA/common/htdocs/hmd/exhibitionprogram/videotemp.html

Build the page in the relevant content area

Unless the video files already have a home in teamsite. Put the video files in the hmd/videos folder.

Tips for each section HOME Section

Explore the Exhibition brief descriptions are pulled from the Exhibition content (only the first paragraph or 400 characters are pulled) To add a digital gallery o put the gallery number (received from Winston and visible in the gallery url) in the Digital Gallery field in the Additional HEAD Tags section o For template A-2: to put an 'ad' for the digital gallery on the homepage add this code in the Home Page content box

<div class="digitalgallery"> <a href="//apps.nlm.nih.gov/exhibition/digitalgallery/index.cfm?gallery=2"> <h2>See the <strong>Digital Gallery</strong></h2> <div class="photo"> <img src="img/photo-home-digitalgallery.jpg" alt="Three men in suits and a female nurse stand by a table with medical equipment." title="See the Digital Gallery" /> </div> </a> </div>

EDUCATION Section

Subpages - VERY IMPORTANT Remember Head Tags Lesson Plans o Subtitle content is bolded and underlined in script doc o Rollover text - content o PDFs open in a new tab (use target="_blank")

Online Activities (Carousel) o Rollover Subtitle - bolded and underlined text in script doc o Rollover Title - little blurb, pay attention to <em> words </em> o Order of carousel in unordered list

1, 4, 3, 2 **Note: Numbers still correspond with what is on the script doc o Subpage has correct order: 1, 2, 3, 4 o If there is no text, put <p> words </p> o Unordered list – used when there is no java script (notation: nojs) o Syntax: No java script follows proper order

<ul nojs <-- unordered list <li> <-- list <div class = "photo"> <-- divider content content content

<div class - "carousel"> o Use notepad for code and Ctlr+h to find and replace old template keywords with desired ones o When carousel is in place, hit '+' symbol > choose Subpage NOT HTML o Link to PDF file (if specified in script doc) – Remember to put a space in rollover text and html

Higher Education o Different pages - Class 1, Class 2, etc o Page - HTML (use content from introduction paragraph on script doc) o Item 1 - Class 1 o ****Remember**** Use the proper formatting for the higher education titles

Correct coding is <h3><strong>Module Title:</strong> The Troubled Mind in Medicine and Society</h3 Online Resources

ONLINE RESOURCES<a id="onlineresources"></a> Make sure the suggested and online have the id links in them.

The item type will be given - Book, online, Film, Audio, and Doc (Word or pdf)

Misc Tips Soft Launch Procedure (Submitting all modified files along with all images EXCEPT main index.html)

On the day of TeamSite submission, regenerate the main index.html file. This will modify all linked html files and allow easier identification when submitting Go to highest folder (Example – Select Harry Potter and not any subfolder) > View > Modified Files > Select all files modified on that day Also submit all the images in the images folder because these will not appear in the Modified Files DO NOT SUBMIT THE MAIN INDEX.HTML FILE just yet (For later launch submission)

New Site linking to Orange Site

If you created a brand new site for an exhibition (a completely new one not a migration like Harry Potter or GW), make sure to submit more-info-pages.notA.dcr so that the orange site retains the new site on its list

How to change to new css

Just change the path name to the correct exhibition (For example, while working on GW, Fire and Freedom's css was used <link href="/exhibition/fireandfreedom/css/main.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" /> so now change the bolded part to georgewashington.

How to redirect old pages to new pages

Delete old html page --> Create new page --> Select redirect option --> File name should be the same as old page --> Title can be file name and exhibition name (Example – Monsters - Harry Potter) --> URL will be the new page --> Finish --> Submit deleted and newly created pages when finished

Entering holding text in an OB number field will create a false file that needs to be deleted

New Template C Add notes about starting a new template C project - do we need to build an education folder? How do we add previous site CSS?

How to start a new template C project:

1. Create folders:

Subfolders: Create 5 folders titled: "images", "js", "materials", "sass", and "styles"

2. Copy css content from recent template C exhibition:

change destination to the desired exhibition you are creating *Repeat these steps for "sass" and "styles" folders.

3. Create index:

T click "OK"

4. Input content:

Once you're in edit mode of the index.html file, start pasting in the content. I recommend pulling up a recent Template C exhibition to follow along.

Images:

Image files uploaded to TeamSite should be formatted like this: "OB12529-sm.jpg" or "066_13-md.jpg". In template, only put the image number without the size (-sm, -md, -lg) and extension (jpg) like this: "OB12529" or "066_13"

Footer options:

You can display Exhibition Home or not.

You can display either Credits or About
