Regional TB Program in Central Asia
OVERVIEW
To ensure more effective and more accessible TB diagnosis and treatment for all, including vulnerable populations, so as to reduce the burden of TB and the development of drug resistant tuberculosis (TB) in Central Asia.
ACTIVITIES
More equitable access to comprehensive and appropriate TB diagnostic and treatment services for vulnerable populations; Laboratory services provide more timely, quality TB and MDRTB diagnosis; Patient centered system for TB and MDRTB implemented widely across the region; Enhanced enabling environment promoting TB services that meet international standards; Human and institutional capacity of health system to manage TB and MDRTB services strengthened; Coordination and linkage of TB with other health sectors and CSOs improved; TB service providers and managers using electronic TB MIS and using quality data for evidencebased decision making at all levels;
EXPECTED RESULTS
Established systems for improving access to quality TB/MDR diagnostics and treatment services for vulnerable populations through creating linkages between PHCs, CSOs, and communities; Efficient and more effective laboratory services for timely, quality TB and MDRTB diagnosis at the Oblast and Rayon levels established; An established multitiered system from the individual to the facility levels and beyond to ensure patientcentered TB Care; Appropriate policies, guidelines and protocols are established to ensure enabling environment for high quality services; Strengthened NTPs that are capable of delivering high quality TB, MDRTB, and pediatric TB services in an efficient way through engaging PHCs, CSOs and private sector; Established mechanism and strengthened NTP capacity for effective coordination of all stakeholder activities for a synergistic impact; A functioning database and NTP Staff who are empowered to make data driven decisions.
