UNAIDS

UNAIDS will roll out investment frameworks in Tajikistan, Kyrgyz Republic, and Kazakhstan to help those countries to design and budget for national HIV programs that focus on the most impactful interventions, address inefficiencies in programs, and allow for better analysis of total cost and impact. In a global climate where donor funding is decreasing for HIV-related activities, maximizing national HIV spending as well as donor resources is essential. This activity applies evidence-based strategic information to promote more efficient allocation of HIV resources.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

UNAIDS is providing technical assistance for the creation of Investment Cases (IC) in order to help Central Asian countries evaluate their response to addressing HIV. The ICs will provide National AIDS authorities in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyz Republic with evidence-based strategic information that smart investments in AIDS now can save funds in the long run and will enable them to advocate at highest level for increasing of domestic funds for HIV programs according to country priorities and needs.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Develop ICs for Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyz Republic Support Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) cost-effectiveness analysis in TJ Support National AIDS Spending Assessment and evaluation of National HIV program in Kyrgyz Republic.

Develop national-level IC working groups and develop capacity of working group members to develop IC in future years.

Present IC results at the national level to inform decision-making
