Summary of Section 01 2300 - Alternate Bid Items
This specification document, prepared by the State of Florida Department of Military Affairs/CFMO for Project 224006 (Cocoa REVAMP), outlines the administrative and procedural requirements for fifteen alternate bid items that bidders may propose as additions to or deductions from the base bid amount. The alternates encompass various facility renovation and upgrade work at the Cocoa Readiness Center, including data rack upgrades to G-6 standards (ABI #1), motor pool gate and fencing work (ABI #2-3), LED lighting upgrades (ABI #4), PA system installation (ABI #5), storage building painting (ABI #6), bollard refinishing (ABI #7), terrazzo floor refinishing (ABI #8), flooring replacements in multiple rooms (ABI #9-10), concrete base installation for lockers (ABI #11), communications room conversion with data infrastructure (ABI #12), flagpole uplighting concrete base (ABI #13), epoxy flooring systems (ABI #14), and jersey barrier relocation (ABI #15). Bidders must propose costs for each alternate as net additions or deductions from the contract sum, with accepted alternates to be executed under the same conditions as other contract work. The contractor must provide written notification of alternate status immediately following contract award and coordinate all affected adjacent work to ensure complete integration of accepted alternates into the project.
The specification requires that each alternate include all miscellaneous devices, accessory objects, and items incidental to or required for complete installation. No other adjustments to the contract sum are permitted beyond the stated alternate cost or credit. Specification sections referenced in the schedule contain detailed product and material requirements for achieving the work described under each alternate. The document establishes standardized procedures for coordinating alternates, ensuring all parties are notified of acceptance, rejection, or deferment decisions, and maintaining consistency with the overall contract terms and conditions.
