About this file

This file is an email chain and scope of work document related to fire systems services for New Haven Public Schools in Connecticut. The correspondence between Heather Barbarotta (Assistant Director of Operations and Sustainability) and Lilia Snyder indicates that the school district is seeking qualified contractors to provide sprinkler inspection and repair services, as well as fire alarm maintenance and repair services. As of the most recent communication dated May 19, 2026, the SCD Program does not have registered vendors available to perform these specialized fire alarm and sprinkler repair and maintenance services. The scope of work specifies that the on-call contractor must provide comprehensive sprinkler system services including testing, inspection, preventive maintenance, repairs, and emergency services in compliance with NFPA 13, 20, and 25 standards. Services are required on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual bases, with specific attention to fire pump inspections on a weekly basis and backflow prevention device inspections on a monthly basis. The contractor must cover both wet-side systems (sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps) and electrical components (fire alarm devices, FACP equipment).

The contract requires the qualified contractor to furnish all materials, labor, supervision, tools, supplies, and documentation necessary to maintain compliance with NFPA standards, Connecticut State Fire Code, and Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements. The contractor must provide initial inspections and maintenance for all items, conduct five-year inspections including obstruction investigations and valve maintenance, and prepare required certifications and reports for both the New Haven Public Schools and the New Haven Fire Department. The work will be coordinated with the NHPS Facilities Department and building administration. No specific contract term, pricing information, set-asides, award dates, or response deadlines are identified in this document, which appears to be preliminary correspondence regarding the identification of qualified vendors rather than a finalized bid solicitation.
