About this file

This is a Bid Bond document issued by the State of Colorado Office of the State Architect under the State Buildings Programs division. The bid bond serves as a proposal guaranty required as a condition of bid submission for state construction projects. Bidders are required to submit the bid bond with their proposal, and the bond must remain in effect for thirty days following proposal opening. If a bidder's proposal is accepted, the principal must execute the required agreement, furnish performance and labor/material payment bonds, provide insurance documentation, and submit certification regarding illegal aliens within the prescribed timeframe. Failure to comply with these obligations renders the bond subject to forfeiture as liquidated damages.

The bid bond amount is set at five percent of the principal's total bid price. The bond must be executed by either a corporate officer (with corporate seal and secretary attestation for corporations) or properly signed by individual or partnership principals. The surety must be a corporation authorized to conduct business in Colorado and must provide a properly executed power of attorney effectively dated at the time of submission. The document explicitly states that failure to provide a properly executed bid bond accompanied by a properly executed power of attorney will result in the bidder's proposal being deemed non-responsive and subject to rejection.
