About this file
This document is the Policy & Procedure for the Department's policy manual, which establishes the process for developing and reviewing department policies and procedures. The policy manual is reviewed annually and updated as needed, and is accessible to all employees as well as the public. The manual is organized into seven numerical classifications corresponding to different aspects of department operations, such as administration, personnel, inmate management, and facilities. New or revised policies are disseminated through department bulletin boards, shift briefings, administrative meetings, staff training, and the department intranet. The signature of the Sheriff authorizes all policies and procedures, which provide rules and regulations for which employees are responsible.
The policy manual contains definitions of relevant terms and acronyms, and the public can access department policies and procedures pursuant to applicable laws, with requests directed to the Office of the General Counsel. The Policy Review Committee, consisting of representatives from various department divisions, is responsible for soliciting input and overseeing the development and review of policies and procedures.
